New voice for viewers

A relatively new voice will tell the story of Ireland's fortunes in Belgrade

A relatively new voice will tell the story of Ireland's fortunes in Belgrade. For the first time, the game is being transmitted by TV3 and the man behind the microphone will be Conor McNamara, assisted by Frank Stapleton.

At 21, McNamara will be making only his second live television broadcast, although he has worked for Radio Ireland and, occasionally, BBC's Radio Five.

Born in Ballyclough, Co Limerick, he was educated at Crescent College and on leaving there, he took a degree in radio and television studies at Manchester University. He is a son of the former RTE disc jockey, Michael McNamara.
