Moyglare Stud invests €3.35 million on top mare Switch

The world-famous Moyglare Stud in Maynooth has paid $4.3 million (€3

The world-famous Moyglare Stud in Maynooth has paid $4.3 million (€3.35 million) in Kentucky for the Grade One winning American mare Switch who appears set for a date with the top Coolmore stallion Galileo, writes Brian O’Connor.

Switch ran third in the Breeders’ Cup filly mare sprint at Santa Anita on Saturday night but was sold at the Fasig-Tipton Sale in Kentucky on Monday.

Switch has won six of 24 starts for lifetime earnings of almost $1,5 million with notable victories in the Grade One Santa Monica Stakes and La Brea Stakes, as well as the Grade Two Gleam Handicap and Hollywood Oaks. “She’s a lovely mare, and she’ll probably go back to Ireland, and it wouldn’t take brain surgery to guess who she might meet in Ireland,” said Fiona Craig of Moyglare Stud, implying that Switch might be sent to Galileo.

Moyglare is owned by Eva-Maria Bucher-Haefner, daughter of the late Swiss owner Walter Haefner.
