Two first half goals from striker Gavin Moore killed off any tenuous hopes of an FAI Cup shock at Whitehall on Saturday night as Home Farm/Everton comfortably beat their sister club, Home Farm, from the Leinster Senior League.
Indeed, the National League club's winning margin could and should have been far bigger but for a man-of-the-match performance by Home Farm goalkeeper Ian Carry, who made a string of superb saves throughout the match.
Substitute Eoghan Trehy created their only goal in the 79th minute with some clever play down the left to slip the ball through to David Campbell. His low first-time shot from the edge of the area flew beyond goalkeeper Paul Whelan.
Moore had given Home Farm/Everton a 2-0 interval lead with calmly taken efforts in the 12th and 38th minutes, on both occasions finishing off intelligent passes from midfielder Graham Doyle. Brendan Place headed the third from a corner.
