Monaghan 4-16 UUJ 2-13:FIELDING THEIR strongest team in the competition so far, Monaghan registered their first victory in this year's Dr McKenna Cup when they proved too strong and too resilient for the students from Jordanstown in this open, free flowing and very entertaining game at Páirc Grattan, Inniskeen, yesterday.

With his eye on their opening league game against Cork Séamus McEnaney called in Vincent Corey, Gary McQuaid and Paul Finlay for this final match and that experienced trio along with Dermot McArdle, Hugh McElroy and Ciaran Hanratty gave Monaghan the vital edge.
