The Milltown pairing of Maeve Whelan (12) and Claire Wren (19) have booked their place in the final of the Daily Mail Amateur Foursomes, to be played in Scotland next month. The hugely-popular competition is played in clubs throughout the country and it saw the Milltown duo play seven matches, five of them in the Dublin region. Their final match was played in Dunmurry in Co Antrim, where they defeated Jill McAuley (5) and Helen McCarthy (6).
The finals of the Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales will take place at Dalmahoy in Edinburgh on Monday, and Tuesday, October 15th and 16th, between the last 16 pairs to qualify.
