MIDLETON, who for the first time this season, qualified to participate in the Munster Senior Cup, have withdrawn from the competition because of fixture congestion.

Midleton had been due to meet Sunday's Well in the Cup next Sunday, but having qualified for the Munster Junior Cup semi final, meet Garryowen in that competition next weekend. It was then suggested that Midleton play Sunday's Well next Tuesday or Wednesday. But that was not a viable proposition for Midleton and understandably so.

They meet Omagh in a crucial match in the All Ireland League Round Robin play off on Saturday week. In the prevailing circumstances Midleton feel it would be in the club's best interests to withdraw from the Munster Senior Cup, a course of action they are taking with regret and reluctantly.

The club has enjoyed a great season. Earlier this season they won the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup. They also won the Munster Junior League which earned qualification for the AIL round robin playoffs, and have now reached the semi-final of the Munster Junior Cup.
