McQuilkin moves to Landsdowne

KURT McQUILKIN, who has been playing with Bective Rangers for the past three seasons, has joined Lansdowne. McQuilkin, a native of New Zealand, was capped three times at centre this season for Ireland - against USA, Scotland and France - but has been out of the game since sustaining an arm injury eight weeks ago.

"I was very happy playing with Bective Rangers, but my main reason for moving to Lansdowne is that I want to play in the first division of the All-Ireland League. I feel that in at that level will enhance my chances of continuing to play representative rugby," said McQuilkin, who is an IRFU game development officer.

The names of two other current Ireland internationals have also been linked with moves to the Lansdowne club for next season. But as yet neither player has made a final commitment.

Former All Black captain Mike Brewer, who played in the World Cup final last June, has taken up residence in Dublin.
