DEFENDER LEO McLoone looks set to be fit to play some part in Donegal’s All-Ireland football semi-final against Dublin at Croke Park on Sunday, August 28th.

McLoone – who missed the Ulster final victory over Derry after fracturing an eye socket – played for his club, Glenties, at the weekend.

McLoone has had limited game time this season after breaking an ankle in March following some impressive early displays.

He played against Cavan and Tyrone, but missed the Ulster championship opener against Antrim, the Ulster final and the All-Ireland quarter-final victory over Kildare.

Donegal are also confident Christy Toye will be fit after his influential role as a substitute in the thrilling extra-time win over Kildare. He scored a goal less than 30 seconds after being brought on, and added a point to finish as his side’s top scorer. Toye has endured a two-year battle to recover fitness from an Achilles tendon rupture. Three others carrying niggling injuries in the All-Ireland quarter-final, Michael Murphy, Rory Kavanagh and Kevin Rafferty, also came through weekend club games unscathed.
