ULSTER SFC:JAMES McCARTAN has been reappointed as Down football manager for 2013.

It will be the two-time All Star’s fifth campaign in charge of the county, having brought them to the All-Ireland final in his second year in charge in 2010.

Meanwhile, Donegal chairman PJ McGowan has indicated the county will fight hard to retain home advantage for next year’s Ulster quarter-final with Tyrone.

With a large attendance expected there has been early speculation that the tie will be switched from Ballybofey to Clones.

Donegal have fared well in the draw in recent years and have played an Ulster championship game in MacCumhaill Park every year since 2006. Despite the fact the Slattery Report reduced the capacity of the venue to around 12,500 this year, McGowan is confident they can get it back up to around 18,000 which he feels will satisfy the demand.

“Obviously we want to retain our home advantage and run out at MacCumhaill Park as defending All-Ireland champions,” he said.
