GENE SAUERS and Neal Lancaster shared the second round lead at seven under par at the BellSouth Classic tournament in Georgia yesterday. Zimbabwe's Nick Price eagled the par four first hole for the second day in a row to start the round of 70 which placed him a stroke off the lead.

The cut was the highest on the US Tour this year, coming at three over par 147. Eighteen players with invitations to the Masters missed the cut, including former winners at Augusta Craig Stadler, Sandy Lyle, Seve Ballesteros and Larry Mize. British Open champion John Daly, Ernie Els, Colin Montgomorie, Ian Woosnam and Costantino Rocca also missed out.
