Trinity weathered a second-half comeback by NUI Maynooth yesterday.

The sides were level on three occasions in the first half before a Karl Mannix goal in the 23rd minute helped Trinity to an interval lead of 1-5 to 0-4.

Maynooth scored four times without replay and with 10 minutes remaining they were just a point behind.

However, they got no closer and Ian Fitzgerald converted two difficult frees to take Trinity out of danger.
