Euro Transplant Dialysis Games:Robbie Lyons from Co Laois, at 18 the youngest member of Team Ireland, yesterday secured three medals at track and field events in Zagreb, Croatia.

Lyons won a silver medal in the Long Jump event, finishing just behind a British athlete’s gold medal effort in the 18-29 year category.

Despite again being the youngest entrant in his respective finals, he also managed to secure silver in the 100 metres as well as a bronze in the 400 metres.

Nineteen-year-old Megan Fahy from Sligo won two medals. She was second in the Ball Throw event and won a bronze in the 100-metres in the 18-29 age category.

Roscommon woman Monica Finn won her second medal at the games yesterday – a gold for coming first in her age category (50-59 years) in Petanque singles.

Cork’s Mike Keohane produced a spectacular performance in the 5k race walk and with a time of 33 minutes secured his first gold medal at the games.

With just a day to go the Irish team has already secured three gold, five silver and five bronze medals in track and field events.
