Dermott Lennon, whose composure under fire clinched European team gold for Ireland's show jumpers at this summer's championships in Arnhem, Holland, added yet another major win to his tally when claiming Stockholm's Land Rover Grand Prix this weekend.
Teamed up with his top ride, Terence Harvey's Touchdown mare Liscalgot, Lennon got the better of fellow-Irishman Billy Twomey in a two-horse jump-off for the €10,000 winner's cheque, despite hitting a fence in the timed round.
Twomey and Give Me Remus also faulted just once, but were more than two seconds adrift on the clock, and so had to settle for a €7,850 reward, in the latest of a string of three runner-up slots for the Co Cork rider over the weekend.
Lennon, who had earlier scooped the international speed class with James Acheson's stallion Dow Jones Courcel, also claimed the leading rider of the show award, earning a Land Rover for his efforts.
Compatriot Cameron Hanley, who had finished third in yesterday's speed class behind Lennon, also found his way into the winner's enclosure at the Swedish fixture, riding Cloudy Night to victory in Saturday's Land Rover Cup.
The pair then slotted into eighth place in yesterday's Grand Prix line-up.
Jessica Kurten, a member of Ireland's gold medal winning squad in Arnhem, was also in the money at the Dutch show in Maastricht, where she and American Peter Wylde teamed up to finish second in the Aegon Prix.
Kurten had notched up two fifth-placings in Saturday's speed classes with Duke Of Lando and Preishammer and then rode the latter to finish in eighth place in yesterday's Grand Prix.
