Camogie Championship: Wexford kept their interest very much alive in this year's Gala All-Ireland senior championship as a goal after just 21 seconds from centre forward Úna Leacy inspired a 2-7 to 0-10 victory over Galway at Wexford Park on Saturday.

From the throw-in the ball broke down towards the Galway goal, where the waiting Leacy pounced to smash it past Galway goalkeeper Stephanie Gannon.

However, Wexford had to wait until 10 minutes before the break for their second score - another goal. This time it came from Katriona Parrock, who took a fine pass from Brigid Curran to make it Wexford 2-0, Galway 0-2, the Galway scores having come from Veronica Curtin and a Lourda Kavanagh 45.

From a Galway perspective, the turning point of the game came just before the break when they were awarded a penalty. Goalkeeper Gannon raced down the field to take the shot, but blazed it over the bar.

They did sent over two further Lourda Kavanagh frees before the break, but it was the home side who finished the better, leaving the field 2-3 to 0-5 ahead.

It was Galway who got the better start to the second half when they added three points (0-2 frees from Lourda Kavanagh) and a Brenda Kerins point, but with Wexford's Ursula Jacob operating well at corner forward and Mary Leacy at centre back it was the Model side who looked the better outfit.

The 2005 All-Ireland finalists Tipperary kept their interest alive when they overcame Kilkenny 1-7 to 0-4 to record their second win in this year's championship.

Even though Kilkenny lined out with their players from Freshford they never looked as if they might overcome Tipperary.

Meanwhile Cork, reigning All-Ireland champions are the only side unbeaten in the championship series following their 2-10 to 0-6 victory over Limerick in Effin, Limerick.
