WOMEN'S FOOTBALL:LEINSTER CHAMPIONS Laois opened up with a devastating second-half scoring blitz on Sunday to leave neighbours Kildare still rooted to the bottom of Division One in the Bord Gáis Energy Football League.

Leading by 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time in Ballykelly, the visitors outscored Kildare by 3-6 to 0-3 in a one-sided second half. Laois now sit in second on the table.

Monaghan ran riot against hosts Donegal in the Ulster derby at Convoy. Ciara McAnespie and Catriona McConnell bagged a brace of goals apiece while Caoimhe Mohan also rattled the back of the Donegal net as Monaghan ran out 5-16 to 1-5 winners.

In Division Two, Galway inflicted a first defeat of the season on Kerry and moved second in the table behind Mayo thanks to a 1-11 to 2-6 victory. In Division Three, Westmeath suffered their first defeat of the season, losing out by 1-9 to 1-12 against Leitrim.
