ULSTER MC TOURNAMENT: (Killybegs 1-16, Tempo 3-7): Donegal champions Killybegs defeated Fermanagh champions Tempo by 1-16 to 3-7 in the quarter-final at Rossa Park, Belfast, yesterday.

In an exciting and very competitive game it took 20 minutes of extra-time to decide who would go forward to meet Coalisland in the semi-final.

CONNACHT JFC final: Killala substitute Pat Bilbow struck five minutes into the second period of extra-time, to produce a dramatic 1-13 to 2-7 victory over Clifden of Galway at a wind and rain swept James Stephens Park, Ballina, yesterday.

The Galway champions appeared to have laid claim to the title inside the first 10 minutes when they shot two goals despite playing into a very strong wind, through a John O'Brien penalty and Gary Conroy.

But the superb free taking of Marcus Hannick had Killala back on track and leading by 0-10 to 2-1 at half-time.

ULSTER MFC TOURNAMENT: (Cavan Gaels 2-7, Castlewellan 2-5): Cavan Gaels booked a St Stephen's Day semi-final date with Antrim champions St Gall's at St Paul's in Belfast after a 2-7 to 2-5 victory. The Down side failed to make full use of the strong wind in the opening period as they shot seven wides and led by just 0-5 to 1-1 at the break.

LEINSTER IFC FINAL: (Confey 3-7, Tubber 1-8): Kildare champions Confey won their first Leinster title with a win over Tubber, from Co Offaly, on their home ground yesterday. Confey, based near Leixlip, never lost the lead after Darragh Nolan opened their account in the first minute.

KILDARE CONVENTION: Recently retired Glen Ryan is to serve the county as commercial manager, it was announced at the Kildare convention on Saturday night. The Round Towers man will be charged with increasing the county board's revenue stream and will fill the role on a part-time basis. Ryan had been nominated to be Kildare's central council delegate but withdrew his name.
