CAMOGIE:A TELLING surge in the final quarter propelled Kilkenny to a 4-8 to 0-12 victory over Tipperary at The Ragg on Saturday, keeping them well in contention for qualification for the All-Ireland semi-finals.

Three quick second-half goals quenched Tipperary’s hopes.

Aoife Neary hand-passed to the net for the winners soon after half-time and Kilkenny plundered those three quick goals from the outstanding Michelle Quilty, Áine Fahy and Shelly Farrell to put the tie to bed.

Goals from Evelyn Quigley (two) and Ursula Jacob helped champions Wexford to a 3-11 to 0-10 victory over Clare.

Quigley bagged her second goal two minutes after the resumption and with Katrina Parrock slotting four points in total, Clare, for whom Claire McMahon scored five points, were left with too much to do.

Goals from Joanne Casey (two), Denise Cronin and Katrina Mackey helped Cork romp to a 4-17 to 0-4 win over outclassed Dublin. Jenny O’Leary landed six points, while Éimear O’Sullivan and Gemma O’Connor shared six between them.

Martina Conroy’s early goal helped Galway coast to a 1-25 to 2-4 win over Offaly at Pearse Park. Elaine Dermody hit the net for Offaly but they trailed by 1-15 to 1-2 at half-time. Marian Crean got Offaly’s second goal but Brenda Hanney, Sandra Tannian, Noreen Coen, Aislinn Connolly and Tara Rutledge kept the points flowing for Galway.
