WHEN they were 3-0 down to old rivals Enniscorthy in the second round of the Irish Junior Hockey Cup earlier this season, Kilkenny's prospects of further advancement in the competition looked just a little slim.

Cue a performance of `Roy of the Rovers' proportions from midfielder and former international Debbie Gaye whose four goals completed a remarkable, comeback by the team.

Victory over Omagh in the semi-finals, after a penalty-strokes shoot-out, sent Kilkenny in to their first ever Irish Junior Cup final where they will meet holders Pegasus II at Belfield tomorrow afternoon.

Five students, four teachers, two potters, farmers and bank officials and one hairdresser make up the Kilkenny squad which will hope to maintain its unbeaten record under coach Ger Dowling. If the teams are level at full-time, the match will be decided on strokes.
