After Brian Kenneally's return to form at Naas last week he continued on his winning way yesterday in the Hardings Grand Prix in Cork and this puts him just one point behind Tommy Evans in the Callcard Classic League.

After five laps of almost 20 miles, Kenneally won by 50 seconds from Paul Griffin with Kieran MacMahon third. This brings Kenneally's points total in the league to 45 with Griffin on 37 followed by MacMahon 35.

The mountain-bike championship was decided over 10 laps of a circuit of two and a quarter miles in the Phoenix Park yesterday and Robin Seymour (Giant) took the title for the fifth year in a row. Like last year Joe McCall and Ray Clarke were second and third.

McCall stayed close to Seymour until halfway but then the champion pulled away and at the finish he was two minutes and 36 seconds clear. Craig Brady and then Karl Daly held third place but Clarke recovered from a second lap fall and eventually got the better of a tussle with Richie McCauley for third place, 6:47 behind Seymour, with Alastair Martin next.
