Irish must not incur injuries

Having gone close to being eclipsed by a vigorous Belgian under-21 side, it would be wise for the Irish hockey squad not to get too embroiled in their two full internationals in Brussels over the weekend. There is not much point in the Irish players risking putting themselves out of action for the European Championship in Italy next month. The Irish overcame France (3-2 and 4-0), and it would be a boost to defeat Belgium as well - particularly as the Belgians recently beat the French 5-0 - but any injuries would be too high a price to pay.
