Two of Ireland's emerging players will participate in the European Young Masters Under-16 tournament in Italy at the end of July.

Co Sligo's Martin McTernan (14) follows in the footsteps of his brother, Sean, in gaining selection for the two-man team, and will be joined by Ballyliffin's Philip McLaughlin, who is a 15-year-old playing off a 1.6 handicap.

The teenagers were selected by the GUI after a series of matches at Citywest last week. McLaughlin has also been selected to represent Ireland in the British Junior Open championship at Formby on July 11th-19th.

All clubs affiliated to the GUI and the ILGU have been asked to select their best player with the blade to contest the inaugural All-Ireland putting championship at Mount Juliet in September.
