Ireland lose out

The Irish under-16s lost 2-1 yesterday against Yugoslavia in their final match of this week's international tournament in Belgium yesterday, missing out on the opportunity to win the four-nation competition.

All three goals in yesterday's game came very late on with the Yugoslavs, who ended up tournament winners, taking the lead with just eight minutes remaining. Ireland equalised in injury time, but their opponents snatched a winner on the stroke of full-time.

Kerr, who will bring this side to the European finals in Israel at the end of the season, said afterwards that the experience had been a good one.
