Hyland replaces six players in Cavan squad

NEW CAVAN senior manager Terry Hyland, who released six players last week, has called up six more

NEW CAVAN senior manager Terry Hyland, who released six players last week, has called up six more. Michael Brennan, Seán McCormack, Ciarán Galligan, Declan Meehan, Colm Courtney and James McDonald have all left the panel as the new manager plans for the Donegal clash at Kingspan Breffni Park on May 20th.

And experienced defender John McCutcheon – who left the panel in early February after receiving no game time under Val Andrews – has been recalled along with five members of the successful Ulster Under-21 winning team, namely Jason McLoughlin, Jack Brady, Killian Clarke, Feargal Flanagan and Kevin Tierney.

Tierney could come into the reckoning in the attack for the visit of the Ulster champions while 19-year-old Clarke could well slot into the full-back line.

Hyland hopes to name the finalised panel in the coming days. “We will look at another round of league matches this week, people might say that it’s too late to bring fellas in but we have to think about next year as well,” he said.
