LORETO Bray bridged a 23 year gap when they heat High School in the final of the Leinster Schools' Senior Cup final at Three Rock Rovers yesterday.

There was much more urgency in Bray's game and they also used the wings well to move up the pitch. Gill Kelly scored Bray's first goal in the 15th minute.

The scoreline remained that way until 40 seconds from the end when Bray were awarded a penalty stroke because a High School defender used the back of the stick to prevent the ball going into the goal.

Orla Howe made no mistake with the penalty stroke to close the door on High School.

High School were disappointing and seemed to be in third gear all through the game. However, Loreto's win was achieved the hard way as they had come through the toughest end of the draw.

PGA Tour rookie Tim Herron yesterday added a four under par 68 to his blistering opening round 62 to extend his lead to six strokes at the midway point of the Honda Classic in Coral Springs, Florida.

Herron stood at 14 under 130, six shots better than Olin Browne, who matched Herron's second round 68.

Michael Bradley, runnerup last week to Greg Norman at Doral, was another stroke back at seven under, along with Mark McCumber and New Zealander Michael Campbell. Bradley and McCumber also carded 68s, while Campbell shot 69.

Nick Price, the Honda winner in 1994, was alone at six under after shooting an even par 72.

The 26 year old Herron had equalled a course record on Thursday, bettering par by 10 strokes. But in yesterday's windy conditions, only one golfer Emlyn Aubrey - topped four under with a second round 67.

Herron's round included an eagle, three birdies and just one bogey. He also came up with par saving putts of significant length on seven holes. Herron, leading the field at the halfway stage for the first time in his career, sank putts for par that ranged from four to 20 feet.
