SEAMUS HEFFERNAN, who enjoyed considerable success as an apprentice, rode his first winner as a full professional on Cuddles in the Maurice McAuley Memorial Maiden at Bellewstown last night. A first runner for the newly-formed Garda Racing club, Cuddles was well backed and beat Durrah Green to win for an absent Aidan O'Brien.

Kevin Manning was suspended for two days for excessive use of the whip on the runner-up, who was beaten a length by the 6 to 4 favourite.

Manning had earlier won the Kilsharvan EBF maiden on newcomer Onbendedknee, the impressive three and a half length winner from High As A Kite.

Forsake Me Not was another winner for Budweiser Derby hero Pat Shanahan, who brought the well supported 2 to 1 joint favourite from well off the pace to win from Premier Code in the Murphy Sand And Gravel Maiden.

Britain's two leading suppliers of horse racing and breeding information have joined forces to launch a comprehensive subscription-based horse racing Internet site, The British Racing Centre.

PA Sport, supplier of racing news, betting and results to Britain's media, and Weatherbys, owners of the General Stud Book and administrators of racing for the British Horseracing Board, are to create an all-encompassing live racing service that will be launched today.

Racecards, live betting shows, instant results, full results with close-up comments, breaking news and course information will be combined with a comprehensive breeding and results database.

The site will offer three levels of information. Level one offers free-of-charge material which will include a racing headline service with single paragraph briefs, "Race of the Day" cards including colours, betting and form details, and information about racing fixtures, courses and winners of all major British races.

Level three subscribers will enjoy additional access to The British Racing Centre's form database, close up comments on every runner, and details of betting movements with big bets placed on the racecourses.
