Heath revenge

The top women golfers from the Heath were smiling broadly after the recent Midland District Interclub finals at Athy. They avenged their Senior Cup defeat to Tramore with victory in the Midland League final for the third time in five years. The winning team included club secretary Rita MacNamara, Catherine Reilly, Sinead Treacy, Anne Phelan and Marian Booth. It was a particularly satisfying victory as Heath hadn't played a single match at home, with previous victories coming at Moate, Birr, Glasson and Portarlington.

Moate took the Midland Trophy (handicaps 20-30) by defeating Blainroe, and Tramore's woes were compounded when their high handicappers lost to Tullamore in the final of the Midland Plate.
