CYCLING: Paul Healion (Murphy and Gunn/Newlyn Group) took the most important win to date of the new Continental team when he successfully defended his yellow jersey on the final stage of the Credit Union Rás Mumhan in Killorglin yesterday.

Stage honours went to Mehall Fitzgerald, the Myhome.ie/Cycleways rider proving quickest in the up-hill rise to the line in the Kerry village.

Healion beat Daniel Lynch (Fermoy) to place second, comfortably retaining his two minute 51 seconds lead over Martin O'Loughlin (Dan Morrissey Carrick Wheelers) in the overall standings. Healion's team-mate Simon Kelly held on to third place, helping the squad net the best team award.
