Boxing: Audley Harrison has been handed a lifeline to his flagging career and will challenge Matt Skelton for the Commonwealth heavyweight title.

The 2000 Olympic gold medallist will take on the Londoner on the same card as Scott Harrison's WBO featherweight title defence against Nicky Cook at London's ExCel Arena on December 9th.

The 34-year-old Harrison's reputation as a top-level heavyweight was obliterated by a limp performance against Danny Williams last year and a further defeat by unheralded American Dominick Guinn in his following fight, which led to many predicting his retirement.

Super-featherweight prospect Kevin Mitchell will challenge for the vacant Commonwealth title at York Hall in Bethnal Green against Ghana's George Ashie on October 28th with a possible first defence - should he win - pencilled in for the December 9th event.
