Leona Maguire cards improved 66 but still eight shots back in Thailand

Nasa Hataoka and Su Oh continue low scoring exploits to start weekend on 16 under

Leona Maguire carded an improved round of 66 but still finds herself eight shots off the lead halfway through the Honda LPGA Thailand.

For the second consecutive day, Maguire had a bogey-free outing only this time she took advantage with six birdies across the round, four more than she managed during Thursday’s effort of 70.

Maguire started her day with three pars on the trot only for the round to kick into gear with back-to-back birdies at four and five. Another shot was picked up at the par five seven and then the par four ninth, allowing Maguire to take the turn at four under. Two more birdies came on the back nine.

Japan’s Nasa Hataoka and Australia’s Su Oh share the lead on 16 under after they continued to match each other with a round of 65 each. The pair mantain their lead heading into the weekend after both starting with rounds of 63 on Thursday.
