MEN'S HOCKEY: GLENANNE COULD be without Graham Shaw this weekend following their heroics in Paris last week in the European Trophy tournament.

The Irish striker was taken out of the final by a rare undercut free hit that struck him directly on the head from close range and knocked him cold.

The match, then approaching the end of the first quarter, was stopped for some 10 minutes while he received treatment before being brought to a Paris hospital, where he stayed overnight.

Shaw, who was a pivotal player in Glenanne getting to the final, is now in doubt for tomorrow's match against Corinthians in the Leinster Senior League.

The Glens have just three games remaining, although if Stephen Butler keeps the form he had in Paris they will have few worries. Butler hit a hat-trick in the first half of their 5-4 win, and then, seven minutes from the end, with just himself on strike, Joe Brennan pushing out, Alan Brown on stop and all the other players clear of the circle, he converted low for the match winner.

The other spicy game of the weekend pits Monkstown against Three Rock Rovers. Rovers will still be smarting from Monkstown putting them out of the Irish Senior Cup a few weeks ago and will be out for some payback after the disappointment of missing two penalties during that game.

Elsewhere, Pembroke also take to the Astroturf on Sunday, where Corinthians are again asked to face one of the top sides in the country. With just a few weeks remaining all points are crucial as the top four go into next season's All-Ireland League.
