WATERFORD United and Wayside Celtic must meet again to decide this second round FAI Cup tie, played in the Waterford Regional Sports Centre yesterday.

The first division side can thank their goalkeeper, Scott Garlich, for surviving to fight another day. Voted man of the match, the American born Garlich defied the best efforts of the visitors' attack and in particular Seanan O'Douchain and Steve Martin in the final quarter of the game as they pressed for the winning score.

The game was played on a very heavy pitch which cut up so badly in the second half referee Brendan Shortt of Kildare would have been justified in abandoning the game in the latter stages.

The Leinster Senior League side demonstrated from the kick off that they were confident of repeating their victory over Waterford in the 1992 FAI Cup.
