European Cup/Team news: Alan Gaffney has held off naming a Munster side until this afternoon as injuries to Donncha O'Callaghan and Shaun Payne have meant the management cannot select their strongest line-up for the clash against Harlequins in Thomond Park tomorrow evening.

Trevor Hogan is expected to come into the second row alongside Paul O'Connell, with Tom Bowman missing out, while either Jason Holland or John Kelly should take over the outside centre slot.

The main headache for Gaffney is the make up of his back row. If he opts to name a specialised second row on the bench, one from Alan Quinlan, Jim Williams, David Wallace and Denis Leamy will miss out entirely.

The likelihood is Williams will provide cover at lock. Leamy will be very difficult to drop so Wallace may have to sit this one out, which will not help his chances of filling Keith Gleeson's boots come the autumn internationals.

English Premiership bottom side Harlequins have named three Irish players in their team as they go in search of a first win of the season at the worst possible venue.

Jeremy Staunton returns to face former nemesis Ronan O'Gara at outhalf while Simon Keogh and Gavin Duffy will look to do damage out wide. Andy Dunne and Mel Deane return from injury to make the bench.

Llanelli skipper Simon Easterby has been passed fit to face Toulouse in tonight's European Cup tie (live on Sky Sports 2, kick-off 7.30 p.m.).

Ireland flanker Easterby has missed the last two weeks for the Scarlets but returns for the match at Stradey Park against last season's finalists.

Trevor Brennan will partner Fabien Pelouse in Toulouse's second row.

Wasps hooker Trevor Leota almost had his ear ripped off during a second-team fixture on Tuesday night and will miss the first two rounds of the European Cup - against Biarritz and Calvisano - as a result.

Leota was playing against Oxford University when he accidentally collided with a loose elbow.

The blow left Leota's ear hanging by the artery alone and he was rushed to hospital where he underwent plastic surgery to reattach it on Wednesday morning.
