"I'm not involved myself but the sport is definitely going down the professional road. They can try and lock it out for as long as they can, but the economy is getting stronger and stronger. Once the development is finished at Croke Park there's going to be a big question about where the money will go at that stage. It's a different generation now with a different lifestyle and I expect there will be a lot more professional elements to the game in 10 years' time."

Stephen Byrne (Offaly goalkeeper).

"I'm not, no. I haven't even delved into it to be honest. (Donal) O'Neill came down and met us but there was nothing else done and there was no pressure from any camp. To be honest I haven't even looked at it. I suppose after the All-Ireland you'd look at it when the hurling seasons over. But at the moment, no."

Joe Errity (Offaly centre back).

"No. It doesn't bother me one way or the other. If there's lads there that can gain from it, more luck to them. Personally I feel the GAA knew there was something happening for a long time and if they were so against why didn't they step in and do something themselves? Some players are very marketable and the GAA should be marketing them. I've no complaints about what I got from the GAA and I would never look for pay-for-play but certain perks should become available to players and that's only right."

Brian McEvoy (Kilkenny midfielder)

"No, I haven't bothered with it so far. It's something I haven't thought about or got involved in at this stage. It hasn't really done a runner here in Kilkenny."

Charlie Carter (Kilkenny corner forward)

"No, I haven't signed up. It's not something I feel particularly strong about."
