Midleton maintain Harty Cup form

Midleton CBS maintained their impressive Harty Cup form when defeating Dungarvan CBS by 3-12 to 1-11 at Ardmore.

Goals from Gary Leahy, John Looney, and Jack McDonnell ensured Midleton recorded their second victory in Group 4.

Dungarvan, trailing by 1-8 to 0-8 at the break, rallied after the restart as Darragh Lyons grabbed a goal, but Midleton were cool and composed while eking out a hugely encouraging success.

Lively battle

In the other Group 4 match, Hamilton High School, Bandon, prevailed by 5-13 to 3-13 High School Clonmel in Fermoy.

At Clonmel in Group 2 Scoil Na Trionóide Naofa, Doon, shaded a lively battle with DLS Waterford by 3-17 to 3-11.

Two opportunistic goals from Colin Ryan proved decisive for Doon, who responded to their opening day loss against St Colman’s, Fermoy.

Castletroy Community College kept up their unbeaten start squeezing past the gallant challenge of Gaelcholáiste Mhuire by 2-13 to 0-18 in Charleville.

Stayed distance

The teams were deadlocked 1-7 to 0-10 at the interval, but Castletroy, who outwitted DLS Waterford last time out, stayed the distance to claim victory.

At McDonagh Park, Nenagh, St Caimin’s, Shannon, had a 2-16 to 1-10 Group 3 triumph over Our Lady’s Templemore.

The other match in that section at Caherlag concluded with a 1-18 to 1-11 win for a promising St Francis College, Rochestown, over PS Youghal.

St Flannan’s, Ennis, the most decorated side ever in the Harty Cup competition, endured a miserable afternoon in Group 1 as West Limerick Colleges hammered them by 3-17 to 0-9 in Sixmilebridge.

West Limerick Colleges dominated the first half as a goal from Cian Magner Flynn enabled them to seize the initiative, while Séamus Flanagan was razor sharp too.
