Mayo to host Kildare as the back door begins to heat up

The All-Ireland football round three qualifier draw was made on Monday morning

Mayo will face Kildare as they look to continue their recovery in the All-Ireland qualifiers and build towards yet another assault on Sam Maguire.

Monday morning’s third round draw sees Stephen Rochford’s team face Cian O’Neill’s Kildare - two new managers who have both overseen stuttering starts to championship 2016.

Along with those two on the 3B side of the draw - Longford’s reward for Saturday’s shock win over 2015 Ulster champions Monaghan is a crack at Cork. Both Mayo and Longford will have home advantage.

In the 3A side of the draw Cavan host Derry. Cavan struggled to get past Carlow on Saturday but will still come in as favourites having navigated that short turnaround from their provincial exit against Tyrone. While Sligo host Clare - who on Sunday scored the last four points of the game to edge Laois.
