Mount Leinster Rangers create history at Nowlan Park

Leinster club hurling title goes to Carlow for first time as misery continues for Oulart The Ballagh

Mount Leinster Rangers 0-11 Oulart The Ballagh 0-8: Mount Leinster Rangers became the first Carlow side to win a Leinster club hurling title as they added more heartbreak to Wexford's Oulart The Ballagh at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny.

Oulart The Ballagh came into the game as strong favourites to end a run that has saw them lose three straight Leinster deciders.

They led 0-5 to 0-3 at half-time, but Mount Leinster Rangers fought back with corner forward Denis Murphy hitting eight points, two of which came from play.

The score of the game came from wing back Diarmuid Byrne, who knocked over a sideline cut with five minutes to go as the Carlow side completed a memorable victory and consign Oulart The Ballagh to a fourth straight Leinster final defeat.
