SOUTH AFRICAN jockey Keagan Latham and trainer Ger Lyons teamed up for a memorable Group Three Sirenia Stakes victory at Kempton on Saturday with Love Lockdown and they can continue that kind of form into Dundalk this evening with Dohasa, writes Brian O’Connor.
Last year’s course winner boasts a 109 rating that gives him the clear winning of the seven furlong conditions race and the Lyons team are always to be respected around the all-weather circuit.
Horse Racing Ireland yesterday confirmed there will be free admission at Dundalk this evening, with a free racecard thrown in too.
Johnny Murtagh had a lucky escape here on Sunday when his mount Hurricane Alley had a fatal fall in the last race but he is quickly back into all-weather action today and teams up with Lyons in the opener on Mister Tee.
It’s remarkable this colt is still a maiden after six starts considering he chased home Cape Blanco in the Group Two Futurity last time.
He will rarely have a better opportunity than this, however.
The regally bred, and expensively bought, Jane Eyre finally makes her debut in the mile and a half fillies maiden but could be edged out by Leblon, while Sunday’s winner Lord Kenmare can follow up in a leg of seven furlong handicap.
The weather continues to impact on the racing calendar with tomorrow’s scheduled Tipperary card cancelled yesterday due to waterlogging.
There will an 8am inspection on Thursday at the same track to see if racing can go ahead later that day.
The Fairy Bridge Stakes has been transferred from tomorrow’s cancelled fixture to Thursday.
