In his own words: "There is still the feeling that the forwards can do it all for the 70 minutes, and play to our full potential which perhaps we haven't done yet. But you don't know who is going to step up the next day, maybe a player who didn't cause much talk before but ends up winning the game the next day.

"We do have the potential to hit it from one to 15 on a given day, and Galway have the potential to do that also. They move the ball fierce quick as well. But Armagh threw everything at us as well and just ended up a little bit off the mark. That did help our confidence because we had lost a couple of close games recently as well, especially the league match with Meath.

"I really believe that whoever does the simple things the best will win it. We're well up for it and we know the rewards. No one wants to know you on the Monday if you don't win. It's straight back to scratch. It has the potential to be a great game but you never know. They said the same about Man Utd and Liverpool in the FA Cup a couple of years back, but that turned out to be an awful game."

Opposition View

Armagh joint manager Brian Canavan on Kerry's attack: "They are all capable of scoring, and they can shoot from any angle, and that's the most important thing. They have been a little bit inconsistent, except maybe for Mike Frank Russell, but they've all rattled up a fair score between them at this stage. And a couple of impressive goals as well.

"Overall they may be a bit light, especially the likes of Aodhan Mac Gearailt, but they certainly make up for that in pace. To be honest, I'm very surprised that Maurice Fitzgerald is not starting. You want a player of that quality on the field for as long as possible. But I also think the two games they had against us will have brought them on a lot and I expect them to cause plenty of problems for Galway. A lot of people seem to be banking on Galway to win this but I wouldn't be so sure. We certainly would have fancied our chances if we were playing them and I expect Kerry will feel the same."
