Family day at Leicester

It was an afternoon of happy families at Leicester, with Di Haine training a winner for her father and Tim Eley riding one for his brother.

Haine was on the mark with 501 surprise scorer Cool Performance, who took the Beginners' Juvenile Novices' Hurdle in the colours of her father, the legendary former Newmarket trainer Tom Jones.

Jim Culloty produced Cool Performance to head Sadler's Secret at the final flight and score by six lengths.

This was Jones's first wholly-owned winner sent out by his daughter, who had acquired the three-year-old, bred by Queen Elizabeth, for just 6,000 guineas out of Lord Huntingdon's stable at the Newmarket Autumn Sales.

Tim Eley produced a sterling performance to land the Barkby Selling Handicap Hurdle on his brother Mark's Apache Park.

Brian Harding teamed up for the first time with Jenny Pitman when partnering Caras Rose to victory in an eventful John O'Gaunt Maiden Chase.

The partnership almost ended at the first when Caras Rose pitched after over-jumping and fired the jockey from the saddle. However, Harding landed on the horse's back and was able to produce his mount to lead at the third last and come home eight lengths clear of outsider Casey Casey.

Timmy Murphy gave up his remaining rides after a fall.
