KIEREN FALLON achieved his first century of winners in a seasons when Jambo took the Montserrat Fillies' Handicap at Nottingham last night.

The race also had the significance of providing trainer Les Eyre with a 50th victory for 1996, also a personal best.

Fallon, who had moved onto the 99 winner at Newcastle yesterday,, took Jambo to the front approaching the two furlong pole and thereafter the combination never looked likely to be caught, the 9 to 4 favourite holding the spirited challenge of Cuban Reef by a length and three quarters.

The success put the seal on the rehabilitation of the Irishman, who has gone from being one of the most controversial to one of the most sought after names in the weighing room.

Meanwhile, Kevin Darley can land a fitting win on Rich Glow in today's Chaplins Club Handicap at Pontefract. This five furlong contest is named in honour of Peter Savill's splendidly tough sprinter, who equalled the 20th Century record with nine handicap wins in a season in 1985 and then, incredibly, repeated the feat three years later.

Rich Glow will never match Chaplins Clubs' record, but he is a similar type, a strong finishing gelding at his best coming from behind in a truly run five furlong event, and requires the same precision timing "from his jockey.

He was ridden perfectly at Ayr in July when Kieren Fallon, another" master of the waiting race, produced him late on to land his fourth courses victory.

Things have not gone so smoothly since, notably when he was set to much to do by an apprentice rider on a couple of occasions.

But he has run well enough to suggest he remains in soon a winning mark in the handicap.

Pontefract's stiff uphill finish is ideal for a runner coming from behind, as Chaplins Club proved, and Rich Glow has the perfect jockey to, steer him home in front.
