Castlecomer CS 4-17 St Peter's College 1-11:FULL FORWARD Charlie Dwyer inspired Castlecomer CS to a comprehensive 15-point victory over St Peter's College, Wexford, in this Leinster Colleges A senior hurling championship game played at Power Park, Wexford, yesterday.

Dwyer was tormentor-in-chief throughout this game finishing with a tally of 2-6, scoring the opening goal after just three minutes, and this after Ben O’Brien had put St Peter’s in front with an opportunist goal from close range.

The sides were still deadlocked at 1-4 each at the end of the opening quarter with only the superb long-range point efforts from midfielder Andrew Kenny keeping St Peter’s in contention.

Three minutes before the break it was Adrian Farrell who shot home his side’s second goal leaving them with an interval lead of 2-6 to 1-8.

Dwyer and Con Ó Donagháin exchanged early pointed frees on the resumption, but it was the eventual winners who struck back for three unanswered points through Andrew Connon, Dwyer and Gary Dunne, with Connon shooting home a superb third goal for his side after 40 minutes leaving them leading 3-10 to 1-9.

As the second half unfolded the dominance of the Kilkenny side became more and more evident as they continued to pick off scores with three superb long-range efforts from centre back Eoin Brennan, before Dwyer crashed home the fourth goal nine minutes from the end to seal an impressive opening round victory.
