David Duval shares the lead with New Zealander Phil Tataurangi in the Michelob Championship at Williamsburg, Virginia, after shooting a six-under par 65 yesterday.
Duval made three straight birdies beginning on the 14th hole and then had a 12-foot putt lip out on the final hole. Tataurangi also shot 65, but with six birdies and no bogeys.
One shot back are Steve Pate, Frank Lickliter and local resident Curtis Strange.Tataurangi, ranked at 165th on the money list, admitted that sudden form with the putter was responsible for yesterday's round.
"My putting's been holding me back," he said. "I've been waiting for a low round to show up and I'm glad it showed today."
Of Ireland's two competitors, Richard Coughlan fared the better, carding a respectable two-under par 70, while Keith Nolan shot a 77.
