Over 200 fanatical golfers made the trip from Dublin to play in the Waterford Crystal/Dunmore East Autumn Leaves golf classic, and it was a worthwhile trip for two of the Castle's members. Noel Hughes and Sheila Hughes proved the top pairing in this popular competition, which sees golf on three local courses, Waterford, Tramore and Waterford Castle.

However, it was a close-run thing for the Dubliners. They had a 135-point total, which was just four points ahead of Anne Collins (Hazel Grove) and Siobhβn Ward (Ballymote), who had 131 points, with Nicholas Furlong and Anne Furlong third on 127.
