FIELDING a very strong side, which included nine of the team that started the All Ireland final last September, Dublin's senior football team ran riot as they crushed a very poor Longford side in the challenge played in Ballymahon.

With just 12 minutes gone, the rampant Dubs have established a very commanding 2-5 to no score lead, with Charlie Redmond and Joe McNally finding the Longford net. Further goals from Brian Stynes, Robbie Boyle and Redmond left the All Ireland champions 5-6 to 1-3 in front at the break.

The Dublin mentors then introduced eight substitutes at the start of the second half. They replaced Ciarin Walsh, Paul Curran, Eamon Heery, Brian Stynes, Paul Bealin, Dessie Farrell, Charlie Redmond and Joe McNally but continued to dominate and added 4-8 to their emphatic tally, the goals coming from Declan Barnes, Paul Clarke (2) and Senan Moylan.
