The battle of the reigning Leinster (Kilkenny) and All-Ireland (Dublin) champions was evenly poised at that stage, the CBS just 0-7 to 0-4 in front.
And there were just three points between the sides with seven minutes remaining, but three scores from Kilkenny's Aidan Stapleton in the 57th, 58th and 59th minutes ended the tie as a contest.
The wides count finished at 20-2, the Kilkenny side's first wide coming as late as the 46th minute.
