Down Royal get extra date

Down Royal will take over the meeting scheduled for Punchestown on January 20th next year

Down Royal will take over the meeting scheduled for Punchestown on January 20th next year. The Saturday card will become the second half of a two-day meeting at the Ulster track, whose fixture originally scheduled for January 17th has been moved to January 19th.

The reason for the move is that Punchestown is closed while work is continuing on a problem with the drainage system. Their fixtures are being reallocated and the December 31st meeting has been transferred to Gowran Park .

Highlight of the January 20th card is a Grade Three juvenile hurdle worth £25,000.

It will be a six-race card following the deletion of the Cross Country Q R Chase.
