NHL Division One A/ Waterford 4-27 Down 1-7: Waterford had a facile win against Down at Fraher Field yesterday. The visitors trailed by six points at half-time and failed to score after the break.

Waterford scored 2-17 in that second half, with corner forward Stephen Molumphy being top scorer on the day with 2-2.

Waterford manager Justin McCarthy welcomed back Dave Bennett into the Waterford starting ranks, while Tony Browne and John Mullane came on at half-time.

By the 15th minute Waterford had raced into an eight-point lead, with Jamie Nagle and Molumphy both finding the net.

Down responded well, however, through three Brendan McGourty points and an Emmet Trainor goal and then they got to within a goal of the hosts in the 32nd minute.

But second-half goals from Ken McGrath and Molumphy put Waterford on their way to the most comprehensive of wins.
