If each of these teams plays to its potential, which of them should win? The answer is probably Fermanagh. In the past, that wouldn't have sufficed to guarantee victory, but the current state of play between the counties suggests it may on this occasion. Donegal were arguably unlucky to lose this fixture last year and, had Tony Boyle not missed a penalty, they would in all likelihood have pulled away. But once the genie's out of the bottle, he's hard to get back.

Fermanagh have for a while been one of those counties with good forwards and less good backs. John Maughan's appointment as Fermanagh manager will impact on fitness as well as the defence. Under Mickey Moran, Donegal will be well drilled, but the question is will they be good enough. Putting his own stamp on the team is a brave move by Moran, but it is also more of a long-term strategy. For the moment, Fermanagh look stronger.
