Dobbin hoping to Breeze to victory

News: In-form jockey Tony Dobbin delivered an upbeat report on Brooklyn Breeze ahead of the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Len Lungo's eight-year-old, currently a 9 to 1 chance with the sponsors, will be ridden by Dobbin, who clocked up six winners in 13 rides at Kelso and Ayr last weekend.

Dobbin will put Brooklyn Breeze through his paces later in the week and is confident of his partner putting up a good display in the two-and-a-half-mile feature.

"He had a good run at Aintree in the hurdle race and he's in very fine form," said the jockey. "He's got every chance but it is a very competitive race. I'm going up there to ride him this week before he goes to Cheltenham, so that should be interesting."

Lungo's gelding made a winning reappearance in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last month to put him on course for a tilt at the Grade Three chase.

Brooklyn Breeze went into the lead three fences from home in the Mildmay Of Flete at last season's Cheltenham Festival, but was headed approaching the last and finished fourth behind Liberthine as he faded up the Cheltenham hill.

He subsequently landed a handicap chase at Ayr before having a wind operation during the summer.

"He's had a little operation and is obviously improving because of it," added Dobbin. "All he used to do was stay, so I'm hoping that wind operation gets the best out of him going up the Cheltenham hill.

"The fact he's won a two-mile hurdle at Aintree is also a massive bonus. And if it's not bottomless ground, he will be fine."

Paul Webber has given Full House the go ahead to run in the Paddy Power Gold Cup on Saturday. The Banbury-based trainer had been considering a tilt at the Blue Square Chase at Windsor seven days later with his recent Wetherby winner.

Webber said: "The plan is to run him in the Paddy Power but we'd prefer it if it was not to become a massive stamina test with loads more rain.

"He's won on softish ground at Ascot but perfect ground would be ideal for us.

"We were thinking about going to Windsor the following week, but the ground is likely to be worse there than Cheltenham, and with 10st 4lb if he's going to win a big one it might be now."
