CHRIS GRANT, the former jockey, is proving a success in his new role as trainer and can score with In A Moment in the Town Moor Selling Handicap Hurdle at Newcastle today.

On an earlier visit to Gosforth Park, over two miles, Grant's plater put up his best performance. The six-year-old had plenty to do leaving the back straight but made rapid progress from the home turn and finished to such effect that he was only half length behind the winner Latin Leader at the line.

Raised just 3lb for this effort, In A Moment will appreciate the extra half mile and can open his account for the season.

Market Rasen's extra fixture has provided Gaelic Blue with the ideal opportunity to follow up his recent course win. Over two and a half miles eight days ago, Sue Smith's chaser, previously a sketchy jumper, got his act together and ran out a clear cuff three-lengths winner from Golden Hello.

Gaelic Blue, who shapes as a thorough stayer, will be suited by the 25 furlongs of the Annual Box Holders Novices' Handicap Chase and can register his second success.

Promising novice chaser Garethson can notch a well-deserved victory in the Additional Meeting Novices' Chase. Henrietta Knight's six-year-old did well on his first two starts over fences when third to Flow at Windsor and more particularly when a short head runner-up to Druid's Brook at Towcester.
